This report details the economic impact of Vanderbilt University Medical Center’s Teleneurology service from the perspective of a patient who was treated for an acute stroke at a community-based hospital. This patient’s treatment was successfully managed at the local hospital. The patient and his support system thereby avoided the burden of transfer to a stroke center at a regional trauma facility, averting additional expenses totaling $2,817.23.
