Abstract

It has been speculated that the expansion of Medicaid played a role in the increasing opioid crisis. While Medicaid certainly impacted the epidemic, much of the readily available research would lead readers to believe it outright caused the issue. A more in-depth look into both the crisis and the expansion of Medicaid, as two separate variables, reveals that the blame may be incorrectly placed on Medicaid.
